The hydroponics system of producing safe and healthful vegetables is gaining ground, especially in urban and peri-urban areas where growing space is usually limited and expensive.
Engr. Wilson Testa, an expert in hydroponics technology will conduct a seminar on how one can set up his own hydroponics project on July 21, 2018. This will be at the Agribiz Kapihan at the Harbest Events Center at the Rizal Techno Park in Taytay, Rizal.
Toto Barcelona, president of Harbest Agribusiness is sponsoring the free forum in cooperation with the Harbest Edible Garden Club and the editor of this page. While the Agribiz Kapihan is free, attendees are required to pre-register thru Alecci Maen Jerez at 671-7411 to 14, or 0946-259-3560 and 0922-852-1843.
Leafy greens like different varieties of lettuce, mustard, pakchoi and other salad varieties are usually grown under hydroponics. The plants grown are very safe to eat because they are grown inside a greenhouse and are not sprayed with chemical pesticides.
The hydroponics project can be made into a commercial venture where the produce can be sold directly to households in the surrounding communities. Customers can go to the growing area and pick the plants they need.
