HE GOES FOR LARGE PLANTING MATERIALS OF MAGALLANES POMELO

Those who are in a hurry to have fruit trees that bear fruit in the shortest possible time go for large planting materials. Just like Nathaniel Dario and his boss who preferred to buy marcotted Magallanes pomelo that are more than five feet tall. When planted in the ground, the trees will bear fruit in just a year.

Dario manages a two-hectare farm in Binangonan, Rizal. It is a poultry farm with enough vacant space for fruit trees. At the moment mangoes are the existing trees. The Magallanes pomelo would be the new addition.

The Magallanes pomelo is a prolific variety that bears fruit often in clusters. It is recommended, however, that the extra fruits be thinned out so the fruits will be bigger and more fleshy. Given the proper care, the trees will bear two sets of fruits in one year.

Whether pomelo or some other fruit trees like durian, longkong lanzones, rambutan and others, large planting materials are recommended for field planting rather than the small grafted seedlings. The large planting materials have very high survival and they also bear fruit earlier.
