JALAPEÑO: Looks like it is a really hot pepper but it is actually very sweet.

That’s what this blogger and Dr. Rene Sumaoang and his son Carlo discovered when we were served a little plateful to taste at the home office of Allied Botanical Corporation.  The Jalapeño is really very sweet. It is ideal for including it in salads, pizza topping and many more. It can be used in cooking pinakbet.

The fruits in photo were harvested from the R&D Farm of Allied Botanical in Tayug, Pangasinan. This means that it can be grown in the lowland. Of course it can also be grown in the highlands. One other sweet variety that has longer fruits is called Palermo. It also grows well in the lowland as well as highland.
