The second Urban Agriculture Expo will be held on Feb. 27-28, 2016 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Trinoma Activity Center (ground floor) at the Trinoma, Quezon City. This is under the auspices of Agriculture Magazine of Manila Bulletin. The event is open from 10 a.m.10 p.m.
Exhibitors will showcasing their various products and services that are essential in undertaking urban farming and gardening. These include seeds, potting media, growing containers, fertilizers, grafted fruit trees, wellness products and many more.
There will be lectures and demos. On the first day, 11:30 a.m., Christopher Carangian will conduct a cooking demonstration using Stevia as sweetener.
In the afternoon, Zac B. Sarian will give a lecture on growing fruit trees in containers. There are many fruit trees that are suitable for growing in containers such as many different kinds of citrus, pummelo, Abiu, chico, balimbing, guava, mango and more.
Melanie Cruz of East-West Seed will talk on sack gardening and flower tower making. East-West Seed is distributing lots of vegetable seeds, flowering plants and other high-value crops. A Los Baños graduate, Melanie heads the Ornamental Business Development Section of East-West Seeds, in charge of marketing flower seeds.
On the second day (Sunday), Ken Okuya, business development manager of Orich International Traders, will talk on the opportunities in the Juice Bar Business.
Another speaker will be Kenneth Caoile de Gracia of Costales Nature Farms. He will talk on value-adding organic products for expanding the market.
The Urban Agriculture Expo is open free to the public.
